Erected in 1943 in honor of all who sacrificed during World War II, the Creston World War II Memorial was built by the citizens of greater Creston, Michigan. Names are inscribed on all four sides of the monument and there are four marble benches surrounding it. It was proposed by the Greater Creston Boosters Association in 1943.

It was then financed by the people of the Creston neighborhood in Grand Rapids, Michigan, through donations by individual citizens, business leaders, and local community organizations. The memorial is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in Kent County. Marker is on Plainfield Ave NE, on the left when traveling north; near street address 1431 Plainfield Ave NE.

The hope was that the monument, once placed in Creston Square, would serve to honor all men and women of Greater Creston who are serving in the armed forces of our country. The monument contains more than one hundred names of Creston citizens who died in WWII.
