Grand Rapids Informed: Plainfield Charter Township Veterans Memorial

Erected in 2003, by sons of the American Legion Squadron 258, the Plainfield Charter Township Veterans Memorial honors, the veterans of Plainfield Charter Township, Michigan in Kent county.

The Memorial reads "Dedicated to all the men and women of this community who helped to preserve the freedom of this great nation, Plainfield Charter Township, 2003. The back of this Memorial features emblems of the five branches of the U.S. Military.

This historical marker is located in the Charles Weldin Veterans Memorial Park, which is located across the Grand River in Belmont, Michigan. The Charles Weldin Veterans Memorial Park grew out of the corner of Belmont and Jupiter Avenues, which were struck by a small tornado and then cleared of fallen trees in 2001. It is now a beautiful park with a purpose, honoring Plainfield Township's veterans. It is the venue for the township's annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day celebrations.
