Northview Public Schools are located centrally in the Northview neighborhood which is surrounded by the Grand River. Ranked highly for academics, Northview High School is a great place for students grades 9-12 to complete their high school education. High school students are given many opportunities to use their knowledge gained in the classroom outside of the school. Students are often taken on field trips to various places to encourage learning outside of the classroom. The school also provides labs for hands-on learning, a fine arts programs, and many other programs that help students learn in more ways than one.

Another great area for students to take advantage of is the various athletic activities offered to high school students at Northview. The high school offers students the chance to be part of teams like football, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, and so much more. Allowing students to join these athletic teams teaches them good sportsmanship and how to work together as a team.

 

NORTHVIEW NEIGHBORHOOD

Bordered by the Grand River to the north, the Northview neighborhood is packed with local parks for residents to enjoy. Donald Lamoreaux Park is a 263-acre park that runs along the Grand River on the west side of the neighborhood. With almost 1.5 miles of shoreline along the Grand River, this park is home to a number of wildlife species which can often be seen when walking along the many trails.

There are a number of lakes in the neighborhood such as Dean Lake, Perch Lake, Emerald Lake, Versluis Lake, and Lamberton Lake. For outdoor bike riding or nature walking, visit the Provin Trails to get some exercise in.

Another great amenity in the Northview school district, Fifth Third Ballpark is home the Grand Rapids Whitecaps. This minor league baseball team is affiliated with the Detroit Tigers. Make sure to say hi to their mascot Crash when you attend a game. With great food options, inexpensive tickets, and a great craft beer selection, games are sure to be fun for everyone.

Knapp Valley Forest is an 83-arce area dedicated to leaving some areas of the busy city to an undeveloped nature preserve. Open during the summer months, the nature preserves has multiple trails for hiking through the woods.

DINING IN NORTHVIEW

For a fun fall adventure, stop in and visit Robinette’s Apple Haus & Winery with friends or family. Grab a snack at their bakery while you enjoy the fun activities Robinette’s has to offer. Hayrides, a corn maze, and wine tasting keep the whole group entertained and coming back for years to come.

Rio Grand Steakhouse is another great place to stop for a bite to eat after a long week of work. This family-friendly restaurant has great food and a fun atmosphere for everyone. Residing along the Grand River, this restaurant serves delicious steaks and has a full bar.

Located on Versluis Lake the Blue Water Grill has a great view of the lake and has a large patio for customers to enjoy their meal outside. Their restaurant design was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and serves delicious and unique food.

The outdoor area gives you the feeling of being on a beach with dining tables in the sand and a beach volleyball court. Hang out insides to watch your favorite sporting event while you grab a beer and a bite to eat.
