CA Frost Environmental Science Academy Elementary

At CA Frost Elementary, no child is left inside! The school is designed to provide scholars with opportunities to explore nature and become independent problem solvers who care about the earth. CA Frost Elementary truly believes that play is critical to a child's development and they have created an outdoor learning environment that allows children to engage in open-ended, creative play. The school has also developed partnerships with organizations like the Grand Rapids Children's Museum, the Grand Rapids Art Museum, and the Grand Rapids Public Library to provide enriching experiences for their students. By exposing children to nature and promoting play-based learning, CA Frost Elementary is helping to create the next generation of Environmental Stewards!

The environmental science lab, or E-lab, at Frost is a place where scholars can explore the natural world and learn about the importance of taking care of the environment. Twice a week, scholars in every grade participate in project-based learning activities that are designed to spark their curiosity and motivation to learn. In addition to these classroom experiences, scholars also have the opportunity to participate in outdoor learning activities, such as sledding, hiking, nature journaling, and stream studies. These outdoor experiences help to extend and enrich what scholars are learning in the classroom, and they provide a chance for scholars to connect with nature in a fun and meaningful way.
