Grand Rapids Montessori Middle High School

The Montessori method was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian pediatrician, over a century ago. The key principle of Montessori education is that learners are self-motivated and that the role of the teacher is to act as a facilitator. Montessori education therefore takes a holistic approach to learning, taking into account social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.

Grand Rapids Montessori is the only public middle high Montessori program in West Michigan. Our school provides a unique learning environment that caters to the needs of each individual scholar. We believe that all scholars have the potential to succeed and we work hard to support their development in all areas. If you are looking for an alternative to traditional education, then Grand Rapids Montessori is the right choice for you!

The Montessori method uses hands-on lessons and experiences to help scholars learn by doing. Typically, scholars will have the same teacher for multiple years, and the multi-age classroom allows the scholars to become part of a learning community that fosters respect, understanding, and tolerance. At the middle/high, scholars are also given the opportunity to take advanced courses and courses for college credit. We truly have it all! The Montessori classroom is a unique and nurturing environment that allows scholars to thrive. If you are looking for an educational experience that is out of the ordinary, look no further than the Montessori classroom!
