The MAPS district is located in the northern part of Muskegon County and the southern part of Oceana County, an area of Michigan that is renowned for its exceptional beauty. The MAPS district includes 12 local school districts that comprise the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District. This intermediate school district is responsible for providing educational services to students in grades K-12 who reside in the MAPS district. The MAPS district is home to a variety of schools, including public, charter, and private schools. In addition, the MAPS district offers a wide range of programs and services to its students, including a variety of extracurricular activities and sports programs. The Montague Area Public Schools include four schools: the Montague Area Childhood Center, R. R. Oehrli Elementary, Nellie B. Chisholm Middle School and Montague High School. All of the schools are located in residential neighborhoods within the city of Montague. The school district serves children from the city of Montague, Rothbury Village, Montague Township, White River Township and parts of Claybanks, Grant and Otto townships, an area of more than 120 square miles. Each school offers a unique educational experience for students, with a focus on preparing them for success in college and careers.
