The Caledonia Public School system is comprised of 2 high schools, 2 middle schools, and 5 elementary schools for students to attend. 7 of the 9 school buildings in the Caledonia School District are rank with 8 out 10 stars or higher for their academic accomplishments. With the focus on providing a healthy and safe environment for children to learn in, the school system excels at putting students first. As part of the healthy environment for their students, they provide a wide variety of athletics for those who wish to play sports throughout high school.

Ranked highest for academics and parent ratings, Caledonia Elementary hosts many events for students and parents to attend throughout the year. Other great elementary schools in the Caledonia School District include Kettle Lake Elementary, Dutton Elementary, Emmons Lake Elementary, and Paris Ridge Elementary. These elementary schools also host great activities throughout the year for their students to take part in along with providing an excellent learning environment.

OUTDOORS IN CALEDONIA

Situated in the middle of the neighborhood Emmons Lake is a large lake with fishing and swimming for everyone to enjoy. Along the shore of Emmons Lake is Caledonia Lakeside Park which has over 40-acres of outdoor amenities. Picnic areas, playgrounds, and baseball diamonds are available for everyone to use and if you want to host an event, you can reserve one of the picnic areas. The Paul Henry Thornapple Trail passes through Caledonia Lakeside Park and gives people a chance to walk 42 miles in a nature setting.

The Caledonia Township Library is a branch of the Kent District Library located in the neighborhood. This library hosts a number of events each month for residents to attend and learn about new things. Events for all ages are held throughout the year and often involve activities that increase literacy and reading skills. Another establishment that holds a number of activities and hosts many classes is the Caledonia YMCA. Classes, camps, childcare, and more are amenities offered by the YMCA to their members.

CALEDONIA DINING

For live music on Friday and a great atmosphere, drop by EB Coffee & Pub for a bite to eat. This is Michigan’s first coffee shop and pub combination to be opened. The only spot in Grand Rapids where you can find both a cup of coffee and a local craft beer under one roof.

Another highly ranked restaurant in the Caledonia area is Jaku Sushi where you can find a variety of unique sushi. To accommodate those who are not a fan of sushi, they also offer their guest other cooked or grilled food options. If you still have a little room left after lunch or dinner, try one of their delicious dessert menu options.
